“Suor Orsola Benincasa” University is an Athenaeum specialised in social
sciences and humanities. The University comprises three Faculties:
Education, Humanities and Law, four post-graduation schools, and
excellence centres such as CRIE (Centre of Research for European
Institutions) and SESA (European School of Advanced Studies). The CRIE
deals with methodologies, benchmarking, integrations among different
disciplines and other European Universities in order to set theory and
analysis elements necessary for the concepts of law, politics and
economics. These activities aim to offer high education courses for
researchers on Community issues. The SESA, founded in 2001 together with
L’Orientale University and the Italian Institute for Philosophical
Studies, aims to prepare young scholars in social sciences in a European
and international perspective. The University took part in the past in
European projects under the Culture programme, and it is also part of
the Erasmus thematic network “ACUME 2 Interfacing Sciences, Literature
and the Humanities”. Teachers at the University have been active in
several European Funded project under the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th
Framework Programme.
